A group of Year 8 girls at Overnewton College, Keilor Campus are making ceramic murals about Alice in Wonderland. Debbie is teaching them new techniques of making and decorating the ceramic features. When the ceramic parts are ready, the students will glue them onto blueboard and mosaic the background. similar projects by Debbie can be found at: http://mosaicprojectsbydebbieqadri.blogspot.com

making the features out of clay
The year 8 girls have been working to make features for their ceramic and mosaic murals, out of clay.
Above: Two girls are making a palace.
Some of the ceramic work is decorated using textured stamps and moulds that Debbie has brought in. There are some wooden stamps from India. The spotted texture is made from a plaster cast of some plastic packaging that housed marbles. Another texture is made with a ceramic cast of a part from a motorcycle. You can see this texture used around the edge of the clock.
The leaves are made by pressing a ceramic stamp onto a ball of clay and then shaping them.
