making the features out of clay

The year 8 girls have been working to make features for their ceramic and mosaic murals, out of clay.
Above: Two girls are making a palace.
Some of the ceramic work is decorated using textured stamps and moulds that Debbie has brought in. There are some wooden stamps from India. The spotted texture is made from a plaster cast of some plastic packaging that housed marbles. Another texture is made with a ceramic cast of a part from a motorcycle. You can see this texture used around the edge of the clock. The leaves are made by pressing a ceramic stamp onto a ball of clay and then shaping them.
